A round up of the news, headlines, stuff and musings from the past week.
Well of course I have to mention the Olympics and the amazing fabulous mind blowing spectacle that was the opening ceremony. I mean, just, wow. If you didn’t see it, you need to. Imagine James Bond sky diving with the queen, the suffragettes protesting, Mr Bean playing in the orchestra and some Charles Dickens looking men break dancing. And then throw in the child catcher on roller skates and some jaw dropping moves. And then mix it all together with a dash of fireworks and the hot GB girls. And that doesn’t do it justice at all. And they very cleverly
missed out the world wars. Because with Germany watching on that would have been as awkward as hanging out with MC hammer when he won’t let you touch anything.
They went through all the ages, from the industrial revolution to the seventies discos, everything was included. There was a medly of kisses been shown including Shrek and Fiona and of course our Prince and Princess but more interestingly was the first lesbian kiss to be shown on telly courtesy of good old back in the day Brookside.
They had a gay man playing one of the Beatles, there are lots of sexy gay girls competing and amongst the final torch bearers bringing the flame to London was Chris Basiurski, the chair of the gay football network. He thanked his boyfriend for the nomination and then to the cheers of the crowd told them of his plans to him marry next year.
And of course speaking of gay marriage, it’s been a good week for it this week as Scotland became the first in the UK to get on board equality float and wave their rainbow flags around. I hope this will be a massive step in the right direction to get Wales, England and dare I say it Ireland to follow in the wonderful footsteps.
David Cameron has also made his shiny little face look a little more attractive this week as he says he personally supports gay marriage. But then he may only be saying this to be part of something. He likes to say he’s one of the lads. He’s as much one of lads as I am into boys. Maybe he now wants to say ‘one of the gays’.
